Australia has about 15 ski resorts, but the runs are relatively short. Africa is not a skiing destination but there are skiing opportunities in Morocco, South Africa and Lesotho. New Zealand has some very good skiing opportunities.

In the winter months in Australia snow falls in the alpine ranges in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania. The ski season generally runs from mid June until early October and is pretty much guarantied due to extensive snow making facilities. If you want to ski in Africa during January and February then Morocco is the only option. There are two ski resorts in Morocco where snow is somewhat guarantied to fall and visitors can rent equipment. South Africa and Lesotho offer skiing during their winter months June to August. New Zealand can't quite compete with variety and sheer number of resorts in Europe, but the pistes are normally not so crowded. The main resorts in New Zealand's South Island are based in Queenstown, Wanaka and Methven. On the North Island, the ski areas are more or less mid way between Auckland in the north and Wellington in the south.
